A four-year allied health degree training cardiac care technologists — the people who run the cath lab, operate echocardiography equipment and support interventional cardiology procedures. Classroom work in cardiac anatomy, physiology and instrumentation is followed by extended clinical training in hospital settings, delivered in partnership with Emversity.

Operates and monitors cardiac diagnostic and interventional equipment — running echocardiograms, assisting in catheterisation procedures, monitoring haemodynamics during intervention, and supporting electrophysiology work.
It is a different profession, not a substitute. Technologists are clinical specialists in cardiac procedures and equipment, working alongside cardiologists rather than practising medicine.
Clinical postings begin in year three and the fourth year is substantially a supervised hospital internship.
